More flights to Warsaw with LOT

Polish carrier LOT will increase the frequency of its flights between Warsaw and Budapest from three to four a day as of March 2014. The airline justified the significant expansion with increased demand and the development of its network. SPAR supermarket handed over at Budapest Airport

The new SPAR supermarket on the arrivals level of Terminal 2B at Budapest Airport has been officially handed over, and will open tomorrow 12 December. The nearly 300-square-meter City SPAR is a store concept by the SPAR group aimed specifically at comfortable and quick shopping, and will thus fit in fully with passengers’ needs. Pleasant Christmas Surprise to Ryanair Passengers

Here’s something you don’t see every day: “Pothole” repair at the airport

Concrete repair works are continuing apace on runway I at Budapest Airport. Specialists must repair surface defects on the concrete runway used for landings and takeoffs before winter sets is, as the frosty weather could cause more damage. It is important not to let that happen, partly for aviation safety reasons. During the past six years alone, Budapest Airport spent no less than 7.5 billion HUF (25 million EUR) on the modernization and maintenance of concrete surfaces and the related technical equipment. Visitor terrace to remain open during the winter

Budapest Airport has decided to keep the recently renovated and reopened visitor terrace on the roof of Terminal 2A open during the winter as well. In view of the winter weather, the terrace will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day during this period. The facility is very popular with visitors to the airport as it allows a glimpse into the life of the airport, the arrival and departure of aircraft and ground handling activities. Should the safety of visitors be jeopardized due to intense snowfall or ice, Budapest Airport may suspend the operation of the terrace. More »


Budapest Airport opens picture gallery

Budapest Airport inaugurated an exhibition space along the corridor linking the arrivals levels of Terminals 2A and 2B. The exhibition area, called BUD Gallery, will primarily be used to accommodate photography exhibitions. Jet2.com adds East Midlands to its Budapest Airport network

8th November, Jet2.com, the expanding low cost leisure carrier, introduced a brand new route to Budapest from East Midlands Airport. The new service, operating on Mondays and Fridays through the year round provides a direct link to central England and complements Jet2.com’s established services to Hungary’s capital from Leeds Bradford. DHL celebrates grand opening of new terminal

DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL is operating from a new terminal at Budapest Airport. Budapest Airport Business Park has provided a state-of-the-art facility, strategically located with easy access to highways and with direct connection to the airport. The new building will serve as a logistics center for both DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Freight, leveraging synergies for the efficient handling of international as well as domestic shipments. Vueling returns to Budapest: New flight from Barcelona

Budapest Airport was last night named as winner of the European Regions Airline Association’s (ERA) Airport Achievement Award, coinciding with the Association’s Gala Dinner during its annual assembly in Salzburg, Austria. First ever: Runway Run on the runway

A race unprecedented so far in Europe took place on Runway 1 (13R/31R) of Budapest Airport jointly organized by Budapest Airport, Nike and Wizz Air. With the participation of 250 invited runners, the special half marathon relay called Runway Run was completed on the 3-km stretch of concrete at the airport. As of today, a direct aerial connection has been established between the capitals of Hungary and Belarus, as the first flight of the Belorussian national carrier Belavia from Minsk landed in Budapest in the early afternoon. Noise Protection for EUR 1 Million

Strong performance at Budapest Airport in spite of the Malév bankruptcy

Passenger traffic at Budapest Airport decreased by less than 4.7 percent last year, in spite of the loss of its base carrier and the protracted global economic crisis. The Hungarian capital airport handled a total of 8 504 020 departing and arriving passengers in 2012.
