First Emirates Boeing777 Arrives in Budapest

A type of aircraft rarely seen so far landed at the airport in Budapest today. Thanks to Emirates, the first scheduled Boeing B777 arrived here to replace the Airbus A330-200 aircraft of the Dubai-based airline on the Dubai-Budapest route, making Emirates the first airline in the Hungarian market to operate a B777. Four British Airways flights per day from Budapest to Heathrow

More than nine hundred runners compete in Runway Run 2015

In spite of the unfavorable weather conditions, more than 900 runners dashed along runway I (13R/31L) at Budapest Airport, to compete over 5 or 10 kilometers, or the 5 + 5 kilometer relay. Without Score: Passengers May Use Piano at Airport

Budapest Airport registers 1 million passengers in a month

Budapest Airport today welcomed its one millionth passenger in a single month, for the first time in its history. Tamás Hadik and his wife, disembarking from the Qatar Airways flight from Doha, were in for a special surprise as the passenger count reached one million in July. Intense Formula 1 traffic at Budapest Airport

There is a great commotion at Terminal 2 of Budapest Airport, and also on the airside and the landside of the General Aviation Terminal (GAT). Budapest Airport to be Ryanair’s first link to Israel

Budapest Airport’s extensive route network development continues with the significant announcement of Ryanair’s first link to Israel. The Hungarian gateway has confirmed the noteworthy addition of the ultra-low cost carrier’s (ULCC) operation to Eilat-Ovda Airport, commencing a twice-weekly service from 7 November. While facing no direct competition on the airport pair, its arrival in the Israeli market at Budapest gives Ryanair an immediate 13% share of flights and seats across all routes to the Middle Eastern country, which will now be served by three carriers. Quiet, clean, electric: fleet development at Budapest Airport

The first fully electrically powered vehicle in Budapest Airport’s fleet, a Smart Electric Drive, has entered service. New Wizz Air hangar takes shape in Budapest

First Toronto-Montreal-Budapest flight arrives full

The new Toronto-Montreal-Budapest flight operated by Canadian carrier Air Transat was full already on both legs of the first trip. Due to the huge demand, Air Transat flew the route with an Airbus A330-300, with 346 seats. Minister of foreign affairs and trade Péter Szijjártó, Canadian ambassador Lisa Helfand and Budapest Airport CEO Jost Lammers were all on hand to welcome the new flight. More »


Iberia brings Budapest and Madrid closer

The Spanish airline Iberia today began services between Madrid and Budapest. Until 22 October, the airline will fly up to six times per week between the Spanish and Hungarian capital cities, using A320-family aircraft with between 141 and 200 seats, including Business and Economy sections. Budapest Airport celebrates the 65th anniversary of its opening

Sixty-five years ago on this day, the new airport of the Hungarian capital commenced operation. The historic event occurred on 7 May 1950, when a Li-2 passenger aircraft flew to Ferihegy from nearby Budaörs Airport. This marked the beginning of civil aviation at Budapest Airport. Air China launches Beijing-Budapest flight

Budapest, 2 May 2015. The first flight by Chinese flag carrier Air China between Beijing and Budapest landed at Budapest Airport at precisely 19:40 on 1 May 2015. No less than 46 gophers (ground squirrels) were “deported” from Ferenc Liszt International Airport by professionals of Budapest Airport, Kaposvár University, and the National Park of Kiskunság. This extensive environmental (not anti-immigration policing) effort was aimed at enhancing the safety of aviation as well as the indigenous Hungarian rodents under special protection. Direct aerial link to be established between Zagreb and Budapest

A new Croatian start-up airline will commence operation from Zagreb International Airport on 2 April 2015 to Budapest. Air Croatia has included the Hungarian capital in its route network, initially with three flights a week between Zagreb and Budapest, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, to be flown with ATR 42 type aircraft. Air China will start weekly four Beijing-Budapest flights soon

Chinese national flag carrier Air China will launch four weekly flights between Budapest and Beijing later this spring. Technical preparations are underway at Budapest Airport to work out the details of the servicing and ground handling of the Air China flight, following government-level agreement about the restart of a direct aerial connection between Hungary and the People’s Republic of China. Donations continuing to gather at the terminals of Budapest Airport

No less than 2.5 million HUF (more than 8000 EUR) of donations was collected in the space of a year in the 6 money boxes placed at Terminal 2 of Budapest Airport. The airport operator introduced its new donation policy a year ago, as part of which it provides an opportunity for charitable organizations operating in Hungary to tender to receive a share of the donations. Budapest Airport handed over the donations collected in the course of the first year to the representatives of the current beneficiaries, the International Children's Safety Service, WWF Hungary and the Hungarian Volunteer Sending Foundation. Magnus Fusion/NatGeo aircraft expedition departs from Ferihegy

The Magnus Fusion/NatGeo Expedition departed from the historic Terminal 1 of Budapest Airport today. The crew of two, pilot Zoltán Földi and photographer/cameraman Kálmán Hankusz will be flying around the Mediterranean Sea with a Magnus Fusion aircraft built in Hungary. The special journey is intended to pay homage to the record set by pilots Antal Bánhidi and Tibor Bisits, who completed the same adventurous, 12 500 kilometer journey 82 years ago with a Gerle 13 biplane designed and built in Hungary. Silk Way West: Eastern Cargo Turnover Expands

The number of ATMs completed by Boeing 747 (Jumbo Jets) at Budapest Airport continues to increase. Silk Way West Airlines of Azerbaijan now permanently uses Jumbos for its two Budapest flights every week.
