Budapest, 12 January, 2006 – Budapest Airport today formally launched a wide public consultation on its proposed noise protection programme.
Budapest Airport will hold a second series of noise forums in districts and towns affected by aircraft noise, to hear communities’ views during January and February. The consultation will run until 14 February.
Residents and experts will have the opportunity to give Budapest Airport their views on the proposed programme by e-mail, by phone or by personally attending on one of the noise forums.
CEO, Budapest Airport, Stewart Wingate said: “This will be the most comprehensive public consultation on aircraft noise ever carried out by Budapest Airport. We are honouring our commitment to seek community views before we finalise our noise protection policy.
“The policy proposals we announced in December with HungaroControl were formulated after extensive scientific and expert research, and following a first round of community noise forums in the summer. I hope residents who are interested in this issue will take the opportunity to give us their views on these proposals, so we can take them into account before we issue our noise policy to the CAA for approval on 29 February.”

Budapest Airport has produced a booklet on the Proposed Noise Protection Programme for the consultations. The booklet is published on Budapest Airport’s website (www.bud.hu) and will also be printed in 10,000 copies and will be distributed among the communities affected by aircraft noise next week. 22 January, at 5 pm in Vecsés (József Attila Művelődési Ház, Károly utca,
24 January, at 5 pm District XVIII (Building of Municipality, Üllői út 400.)
30 January, at 6 pm, District XVII (Kép Utcai Általános Iskola, XVII. Kép u. 13.)
The time, date and location of the further noise forums will be published in local papers and on Budapest Airport’s website.
