Following another record-breaking year in passenger numbers (with 10.3 million passengers using its terminal in 2015) Budapest Airport was declared Best Airport in the Eastern Europe region for the third consecutive year by London-based aviation consultancy Skytrax. The prestige of the award is further enhanced by the fact that it is granted on the basis of independent passenger satisfaction surveys; in last year’s survey no less than 12 million passengers were interviewed at various airports of 160 countries. The awards – including the one that went to Budapest Airport – were handed over at a gala event in Cologne.
Accepting the accolade on behalf of the airport, Kam Jandu, CCO, Budapest Airport, commented, “Receiving the Skytrax title of ‘Best Airport in the region’ is an outstanding achievement in itself, to retain this prestigious award for the third year in a row is a particular triumph and acknowledgement of our continued commitment to deliver best-practice throughout our airport. It is a great honour and an exceptionally proud moment to see our commitment once again recognised by passengers themselves.”
Budapest Airport’s CEO, Jost Lammers commented on the receipt of the professional award, “The first time we received the award of best airport in the region we were ecstatic, the second time provided assurance that it was not a fluke, and to be rewarded a third time has really blown us away! All employees of the Budapest Airport group and its partners at the airport deserve all credit for this fantastic series of successes. Our commitment to providing high-quality services is undiminished and it will remain so.”
