after the grounding of Malév Hungarian Airlines the Hungarian Civil Aviation Authority has invited for a tender to designate new carriers for the regulated routes.

All information is made available online at the Hungarian CAA webpage in Hungarian language only.
The airline development team of Budapest Airport is assisting in distributing the tender documents to airline partners. The forms and the explanation of the submission criteria can be downloaded in English below. A summary of the regulated routes has been prepared to understand the details of the routes.

Applications can be made anytime. As soon as the first application was received, the window for accepting further applications closes after 30 days. Received applications will be published on the CAA webpage. Only Hungarian language applications are acceptable. The applicants’ submission will be evaluated within 60 days.

The timeframe of the designation of a successful applicant is for 6 years. As the tender is only related to airline designation, within the frame of the existing bilateral agreement, it does not automatically entitle to starting operations.
