Budapest Airport handed over a new one-bay line maintenance hangar for Wizz Air in August 2015. The new 2000-square-meter facility and 170-square-meter office and social room area will satisfy daily line maintenance needs of the aircraft of the airline based not only in Hungary but all over Eastern Europe.
Besides the air and sea branches of the logistics company, the compay seat regarding inland transport has also been located in BUD territory since October, 2013.
The building provides 3 000 sqm office space, 7 800 sqm warehouse space, and 5 800 sqm maneuvering space for the tenant.
As the operator of the Airport, BUD built a brand new storage facility with 2000 sqm floor space in October 2013 for Lufthansa Technik. With this investment BUD contributed to the development of repairing and maintenance activity.
Budapest Airport concluded a lease agreement for leasing the simulator building to Flight Simulation Company Kft, and the newly refurbished facility accommodating the Wizz Air Flight Simulator &Training Center was opened in May 2013.
Wizz Air, the biggest discount airline of Central-Eastern Europe, moved to Budapest Airport in June 2011.The lease agreement about more than 2 000 sqm of floor-space was signed in October 2010. Based on the agreement, Budapest Airport has reconstructed an existing office building into a modern facility with open-plan offices accommodating around 150 employees.
Based on a 10-year lease agreement, Budapest Airport constructed a tailor made distribution centre for Hungarian Post. Operation has started in summer 2011, serving as the major postal hub for Hungary and the neighbouring countries. The building features a warehouse over 3,000 sqm with state of the art sorting technology and around 2,000 sqm for office space.
The area between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 has great potential for property development. Located on the southern edge of the airport, adjacent to main road no. 4.
The development requiring more than 500 000 sqm will materialize in several phases. Construction of the complex has been started with the construction of the DHL logistics center.
